The 2006 Verge New England Championship Cyclo-Cross Series re-starts November 4-5 with a double dip of the Chainbiter 8.0 in Farmington, Conn. and the 16th Annual Cycle-Smart International in Northampton, Mass. Marking rounds three and four of the 2006 Verge NECCS, Chainbiter and Cycle-Smart International will, as always, draw massive fields from up and down the Eastern Seaboard for their unique cyclo-cross experiences.
Utilizing the variable terrain of Farmington’s Winding Trails Park, Chainbiter offers the most diverse course of the Verge NECCS, including notorious sandpits, a leg-blasting climb, and the soul crushing uphill paved finish stretch. Sunday’s Cycle-Smart International features plenty of pedaling on the two-tiered Look Park course. Momentum and a deft braking touch through the upper tree section while the lower fields will keep legs turning at maximum pressure every lap.
“We’re on target for record fields this weekend,” said Cycle-Smart International organizer Adam Myerson. “This will be our 16th edition and it’s come to be regarded as the crown jewel of the Verge NECCS, which we’re really proud of.”
With Verge NECCS Elite leaders Tim Johnson (Cannondale-cyclocrossworld.com) and Lyne Bessette (Cyclocrossworld.com) contesting the Crank Brothers USGP races in Colorado the leaders’ jerseys could well pass onto different shoulders at the end of the weekend.
