BOSTON, Mass. (September 21, 2016) -  With cyclocross season underway, the Northeast kicks into high gear with the 2016 Vittoria Northeast Cyclocross Series presented by Cycle-Smart. Well-known for its high quality events, the Series will continue that tradition with the support of new title sponsor, Vittoria. "Adam Myerson has been a key player in the growth of cyclocross in the United States, and his vast experience is evident in this world-class race series," Vittoria Vice President of Marketing and Product Ken Avery said. "The Vittoria Series is growing and we're proud to be title sponsor."

This year the Series expands from three to four weekends and extends into New York, continuing to attract top riders from around the country and the globe who will compete for the coveted overall Vittoria Series jersey. In addition to UCI Elite and U23 titles for both men and women, and a 35+ elite jersey for women, amateur racers are a offered a chance to compete for Series points in ten categories.

The 2016 Series will kick off at the CRAFT Sportswear Gran Prix of Gloucester, October 15 and 16 in scenic Stage Fort Park. "The Vittoria Series is the only UCI cyclocross Series on this continent" said Gloucester Executive and Technical Director Paul Boudreau. "It has a great tradition of producing the sport's next wave of stars while also attracting new people to the sport. We're excited to continue our involvement."

This year's Verge Northampton International, on November 12 and 13, hosts one of New England's favorite races and the oldest UCI race in the US. The crown jewel of New England cyclocross will have The JAM Fund on hand raising money for the development of future cyclocross stars, and welcomes former Series title sponsor Verge as its new race weekend sponsor. "I've been racing 'cross with the folks at Verge all the way back to when I was a junior. To have them stay involved as title sponsor of our individual race feels really good for us."

New to the Series this year is Supercross Cup November 19 and 20. Big changes are in store for the New York race after 12 years running as a stand-alone UCI-sanctioned event. Moving to a new venue in Suffern, competitors will find a challenging course with access to permanent athletic facilities and a more central location at Rockland Community College. "We loved racing at the Anthony Wayne, but I am really excited about our new venue and all the possibilities it affords," says Supercross Race Director Myles Romanow.

The Series grand finale will be at the NBX Gran Prix of 'Cross. Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick, Rhode Island will host the final chapter on a course that is the essence of cyclocross in New England: twists and turns, rooty descents and the legendary beach sections.
